During the summer of 2014 Professor Jim Neel lived for a month on the Turkish/Syrian border. The works in this exhibition, which focus on the plight of children in areas of conflict, are a result of that experience and were realized at the pottery facilities of the Kohler Company factory in Kohler, Wisconsin during a three-month Arts/Industry Residency co-sponsored by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center and the Kohler Company and supported by a Birmingham-Southern College faculty sabbatical.

Professor Neel is a 1971 graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and a member of the Art & Art History faculty since 2002.
